Read articleSkim Milk weighs 1.035 kg per litre. Convert litres to kilograms (and back) using its exact density.
1 liter of Skim Milk weighs approximately 1.035 kilograms (or 1035 grams) at standard room temperature. Because mass equals volume multiplied by density (\(m = V \times \rho\)), multiplying volume in liters by 1.035 gives the exact mass in kg.
Skim Milk has a density of 1.035 kg/L, which makes it 3.5% heavier than water. Skimming removes butterfat, which is lighter than water. With the light component gone, what remains is denser: skim milk is about 1.035 kg/L versus 1.030 for whole milk.
Low-fat dairy production, cheese-making yield calculations, coffee-shop inventory and nutrition labelling for skim and semi-skimmed products.
Semi-skimmed (about 1.5–2% fat) sits between the two, around 1.032–1.034 kg/L. Fortified skim milk with added milk solids can exceed 1.037 kg/L.
Type the volume in litres. The calculator is preset to Skim Milk at 1.035 kg/L.
Flip to kilograms → litres to find how much space a given weight of skim milk takes up.
See kilograms, pounds, millilitres and gallons. Each litre adds 1.035 kg.
Skimming removes butterfat, which is lighter than water. With the light component gone, what remains is denser: skim milk is about 1.035 kg/L versus 1.030 for whole milk. To convert, multiply the volume in litres by 1.035. To go the other way, divide the weight in kilograms by 1.035.
kg = Litres × 1.035
L = kg ÷ 1.035
1 L → 1.035 kg
10 L → 10.35 kg
100 L → 103.5 kgConvert 5 litres of skim milk to kilograms: 5 × 1.035 = 5.175 kg, or 11.41 lb. Reversed: 5.175 kg ÷ 1.035 = 5 L.
| Scenario | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 L of skim milk | 1 × 1.035 kg/L | 1.035 kg |
| 5 L of skim milk | 5 × 1.035 kg/L | 5.175 kg |
| 20 L of skim milk | 20 × 1.035 kg/L | 20.7 kg |
| 100 L of skim milk | 100 × 1.035 kg/L | 103.5 kg |
| 10 kg of skim milk (reverse) | 10 ÷ 1.035 kg/L | 9.66 L |

Read articleSlightly. 1 litre of skim milk weighs 1.035 kg against 1.030 kg for whole milk, because removing fat removes the lightest component.
5 L × 1.035 kg/L = 5.175 kg of milk before packaging.
1 litre of skim milk weighs 1.035 kg (1035 grams, or 2.28 lb), using a density of 1.035 kg/L.
1 kg of skim milk is 0.966 litres. Divide the weight by the density: 1 ÷ 1.035 = 0.966.
Multiply the volume by 1.035. For example, 10 litres of skim milk is 10.35 kg and 50 litres is 51.75 kg.
