Read articleMaple Syrup weighs 1.37 kg per litre. Convert litres to kilograms (and back) using its exact density.
1 liter of Maple Syrup weighs approximately 1.37 kilograms (or 1370 grams) at standard room temperature. Because mass equals volume multiplied by density (\(m = V \times \rho\)), multiplying volume in liters by 1.37 gives the exact mass in kg.
Maple Syrup has a density of 1.37 kg/L, which makes it 37% heavier than water. Maple syrup is boiled until it reaches about 66–67% sugar by weight. Its density is therefore a regulated, tightly controlled 1.37 kg/L.
Sugar-bush producers grading and packing syrup, pancake-house cost calculations, and baking recipes that give maple syrup by weight.
Syrup that is under-boiled runs thinner and lighter and can spoil. Over-boiled syrup crystallises. Colour grade does not change density meaningfully.
Type the volume in litres. The calculator is preset to Maple Syrup at 1.37 kg/L.
Flip to kilograms → litres to find how much space a given weight of maple syrup takes up.
See kilograms, pounds, millilitres and gallons. Each litre adds 1.37 kg.
Maple syrup is boiled until it reaches about 66–67% sugar by weight. Its density is therefore a regulated, tightly controlled 1.37 kg/L. To convert, multiply the volume in litres by 1.37. To go the other way, divide the weight in kilograms by 1.37.
kg = Litres × 1.37
L = kg ÷ 1.37
1 L → 1.37 kg
10 L → 13.7 kg
100 L → 137 kgConvert 5 litres of maple syrup to kilograms: 5 × 1.37 = 6.85 kg, or 15.1 lb. Reversed: 6.85 kg ÷ 1.37 = 5 L.
| Scenario | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 L of maple syrup | 1 × 1.37 kg/L | 1.37 kg |
| 5 L of maple syrup | 5 × 1.37 kg/L | 6.85 kg |
| 20 L of maple syrup | 20 × 1.37 kg/L | 27.4 kg |
| 100 L of maple syrup | 100 × 1.37 kg/L | 137 kg |
| 10 kg of maple syrup (reverse) | 10 ÷ 1.37 kg/L | 7.3 L |

Roughly 40 litres of sap, since sap is only around 2% sugar and must be concentrated to about 66%.
1 litre of maple syrup weighs 1.37 kg (1370 grams, or 3.02 lb), using a density of 1.37 kg/L.
1 kg of maple syrup is 0.73 litres. Divide the weight by the density: 1 ÷ 1.37 = 0.73.
Multiply the volume by 1.37. For example, 10 litres of maple syrup is 13.7 kg and 50 litres is 68.5 kg.
