Compare the weights of petrol, diesel, jet A-1, kerosene, and LPG per litre and gallon in kg and lbs. Includes fuel density tables and tank calculations.
Read articleDry Active Yeast weighs 0.6 kg per litre. Convert litres to kilograms (and back) using its exact density.
1 liter of Dry Active Yeast weighs approximately 0.6 kilograms (or 600 grams) at standard room temperature. Because mass equals volume multiplied by density (\(m = V \times \rho\)), multiplying volume in liters by 0.6 gives the exact mass in kg.
Dry Active Yeast has a density of 0.6 kg/L, which makes it 40% lighter than water. Dry active yeast granules are light and porous at 0.6 kg/L bulk density.

Instant yeast is a finer particle and can pack tighter. Always weigh yeast for accurate hydration and rise times.
Type the volume in litres. The calculator is preset to Dry Active Yeast at 0.6 kg/L.
Flip to kilograms → litres to find how much space a given weight of dry active yeast takes up.
See kilograms, pounds, millilitres and gallons. Each litre adds 0.6 kg.
Dry active yeast granules are light and porous at 0.6 kg/L bulk density. To convert, multiply the volume in litres by 0.6. To go the other way, divide the weight in kilograms by 0.6.
kg = Litres × 0.6
L = kg ÷ 0.6
1 L → 0.6 kg
10 L → 6 kg
100 L → 60 kgConvert 5 litres of dry active yeast to kilograms: 5 × 0.6 = 3 kg, or 6.61 lb. Reversed: 3 kg ÷ 0.6 = 5 L.
| Scenario | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 L of dry active yeast | 1 × 0.6 kg/L | 0.6 kg |
| 5 L of dry active yeast | 5 × 0.6 kg/L | 3 kg |
| 20 L of dry active yeast | 20 × 0.6 kg/L | 12 kg |
| 100 L of dry active yeast | 100 × 0.6 kg/L | 60 kg |
| 10 kg of dry active yeast (reverse) | 10 ÷ 0.6 kg/L | 16.67 L |
| Litres | Kilograms | Pounds | US gallons |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.25 L | 0.15 kg | 0.33 lb | 0.07 gal |
| 0.5 L | 0.3 kg | 0.66 lb | 0.13 gal |
| 1 L | 0.6 kg | 1.32 lb | 0.26 gal |
| 2 L | 1.2 kg | 2.65 lb | 0.53 gal |
| 5 L | 3 kg | 6.61 lb | 1.32 gal |
| 10 L | 6 kg | 13.23 lb | 2.64 gal |
| 20 L | 12 kg | 26.46 lb | 5.28 gal |
| 50 L | 30 kg | 66.14 lb | 13.21 gal |
| 100 L | 60 kg | 132.28 lb | 26.42 gal |

1 litre of dry active yeast weighs 0.6 kg (600 grams, or 1.32 lb), using a density of 0.6 kg/L.
1 kg of dry active yeast is 1.667 litres. Divide the weight by the density: 1 ÷ 0.6 = 1.667.
Multiply the volume by 0.6. For example, 10 litres of dry active yeast is 6 kg and 50 litres is 30 kg.
