Read articleLatex Paint weighs 1.35 kg per litre. Convert litres to kilograms (and back) using its exact density.
1 liter of Latex Paint weighs approximately 1.35 kilograms (or 1350 grams) at standard room temperature. Because mass equals volume multiplied by density (\(m = V \times \rho\)), multiplying volume in liters by 1.35 gives the exact mass in kg.
Latex Paint has a density of 1.35 kg/L, which makes it 35% heavier than water. Latex (acrylic emulsion) paint contains pigment and fillers, which makes it heavier than water at about 1.35 kg/L.

Titanium dioxide-heavy whites are denser than clear base. Gloss and low-VOC paints range from 1.1 to 1.5 kg/L.
Type the volume in litres. The calculator is preset to Latex Paint at 1.35 kg/L.
Flip to kilograms → litres to find how much space a given weight of latex paint takes up.
See kilograms, pounds, millilitres and gallons. Each litre adds 1.35 kg.
Latex (acrylic emulsion) paint contains pigment and fillers, which makes it heavier than water at about 1.35 kg/L. To convert, multiply the volume in litres by 1.35. To go the other way, divide the weight in kilograms by 1.35.
kg = Litres × 1.35
L = kg ÷ 1.35
1 L → 1.35 kg
10 L → 13.5 kg
100 L → 135 kgConvert 5 litres of latex paint to kilograms: 5 × 1.35 = 6.75 kg, or 14.88 lb. Reversed: 6.75 kg ÷ 1.35 = 5 L.
| Scenario | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 L of latex paint | 1 × 1.35 kg/L | 1.35 kg |
| 5 L of latex paint | 5 × 1.35 kg/L | 6.75 kg |
| 20 L of latex paint | 20 × 1.35 kg/L | 27 kg |
| 100 L of latex paint | 100 × 1.35 kg/L | 135 kg |
| 10 kg of latex paint (reverse) | 10 ÷ 1.35 kg/L | 7.41 L |

20 ÷ 1.35 ≈ 14.8 litres.
1 litre of latex paint weighs 1.35 kg (1350 grams, or 2.98 lb), using a density of 1.35 kg/L.
1 kg of latex paint is 0.741 litres. Divide the weight by the density: 1 ÷ 1.35 = 0.741.
Multiply the volume by 1.35. For example, 10 litres of latex paint is 13.5 kg and 50 litres is 67.5 kg.
